My Favorite Place

My Favorite Place

My favorite place is some where far from the ear-piercing clattering of the busy city life. When I am here at my favorite place the ability to relax, and let my mind wonder sets my spirit at ease. The people are so kind and welcome you with open arms; you lose yourself as there is no rush on the daily grind. The marvelous fresh air rolls across the water with an aroma of sea salt. As you look around at the beautiful palmetto trees, phenomenal weather; instantaneously you fill that you are in a different country.

This place is so rich with culture and people descending from the Caribbean islands. The diverseness of the people, language, and food makes this a great place to come and forget about your troubles. When ever I am upset, and want to feel better I think about home. I realized that there, I am myself and would not have to be the other person when I am not home. Finally, my favorite place is Beaufort, South Carolina and she is me.

The Most Memorable Meal

The Most Memorable Meal

The most memorable meal would have to be Christmas dinner of 1997.This meal was the best that I have ever had in my life. I had just graduated from Recruit Training in Great Lakes Illinois. When I walk in to the house, I was overwhelm it was stupendous amount of food. The aroma of the food sent your body into ecstasy. A perfect display of dessert was arrange, mountains of cakes, and pies. Over on a table all alone was a cake that my grandmother made from scratch. It was her famous 5 layer cake, with one bite you are going on a blissful out body experience. Cover in soft whipped chocolate icing, mouth watering buttery yellow cake. The turkey had an illuminating bronze glow the lighted the entire room. It had been stuff with home-made bread dressing. The fragrance of sweet onions, celery, apples, and pineapples dance around the room. My aunt Sandra made her magnificent potatoes salad; it is made with broiled white potatoes, onions, mustard, sugar, eggs, mayo (Duke Mayo), and paprika. You know if from the south you have to use “Dukes”. The potatoes salad had a smooth texture that almost melted in your mouth. Also my mother made this marvelous baked 3 cheese macaroni. It is prepared with a blend of sharp cheddar, Parmesan, pepper-jack, and numerous of other spices. My grandmother prepared collard green with ham hocks. It was a rich green color and season just right. Also she made some of here well known house gray. This was a celebration of triumph, and for them to show how proud they were of my graduation from boot camp. This meal will forever stand out as the most memorable meal ever.

The Moment that Changed Everthing

The Moment that Changed Everything

It was September 15, 1996. That day will stand out for the rest of my life, because that day was career at my high school. The week before that day my mother was on me about; what are you going to do after high school? I had already put off taking the S.A.T exam. So the entire upper class has to attend this career in the gymnasiums. I went in their not knowing what I was going to do with the rest of my life. Man I was only 17 years old. After an hour are so of roaming around their. This guy is a white suit stop me and ask “hey son want to travel the world and go to college at the same time” So I said yeah, what would I have to do. Petty Officer Smith told me all you would have to do is join the Navy. I didn’t know anything about the Navy or what they did. So I sign my name in the dotted line. When he review my information, he told my I was not a legal age to enroll by my self. So he told me how about you have your parents come by the office and talk with me. Later on that day my parents and I talked about me joining the Navy. They ready did not want me to join; they wanted me to attend college. After many conversations my parents decided that I could to join the Navy. Now it was time for me to leave for Basic training, and everything was alright until we boarded the bus. Once that bus stop and the door open this guy boarded the bus and started screaming at everyone. I thought to myself what I got myself into; maybe I could run away. As I look back on that my decision this was that best thing that happen to me and I would do it all over again.
